School Essentials for Students
Purpose
In Sankhuwasabha district we have studied and found out that more than 90% of students studying at the government schools come from severely disadvantaged family backgrounds.

For these students it has been difficult to go to school regularly and obtain formal education.
The Challenges They Face
- Family Loss: Some children have lost one or both parents or live in homes where education is not the first priority for them.
- Health problems: There are some students whose parents have been suffering from chronic disease-like heart or kidney disease or cancer and so they are unable to earn a living.
- Climate Vulnerability: There are some kids from the families who have been suffered from natural calamities like floods and landslides, draught, or hailstorm.
Without the basics a proper uniform, a school bag or even a simple ball pen, pencil these children face daily embarrassment with their friends in the classroom. Instead of being a place of their future hope, the has school room has become a place where they feel invisible or discouraged for study.
How We Help?
We believe every child has write to walk into a classroom with confidence. To ensure no student is left behind, we provide support to them through two main channels:
- Global Giving crowdfunding
- Makalu Arun Social Trek (MAST).
(MAST) a registered, non-profit social trekking company established in Khandbari organizes social trekking around Makalu Kanchenjunga region of Eastern Nepal. We use our business profits for us to support the kids’ education.
Materials distribution: We distribute the following materials to the students at the beginning of each school academic year:
Writing Materials: Copies, ball pens, pencils, pencil sharpers, erasers etc.
- Academic Tools: Mathematical instrument boxes.
Our Impact
By providing these simple writing materials we achieve three life-changing results:
- Regularity in the classroom. When a child has necessary writing materials it needs in his school bag, they are more likely to stay in school and succeed.
- Dignity: if a child has writing materials, they need in their school bag, they feel welcomed and equal to their peers. They are happy and motivated to learn to read and write.
- A Bright Future: We hope we don’t just give supplies to the needy students; we motivate them to learn, to dream beyond their current circumstances
